In these two lectures, &quot;Senrei Nishikawa&quot;:http://www.senrei-nishikawa.com/ will present and compare four types of Japanese dance&#8212;Noh theater, dance odori, dance Mai, and the creation of Senrei&#8212;all inspired by a folk story dating from the 11th century, _D&#244;j&#244;ji_. As part of the demonstration, Senrei will perform her dance, _Song of the Birds_.

*Senrei Nishikawa* is a dancer, choreographer and artistic director. Born in Kyoto, Senrei began to study Japanese traditional dance at the age of four. She has earned the degree of SHIHAN (the master of dance) as an accomplished dancer. Senrei has been performing since 1987, creating whole productions including scripts, construction, direction, scenography, music, and dance. Her style is full of high spirit and modern sensitivity, and goes far beyond traditional Japanese performances.
