Benefit Concert with Virtuoso Anne Akiko Meyers

Friday, April 29, 2011

The Play for Japan USA project was born out of a sincere wish to help those people in Japan's earthquake and tsunami devastated areas as well as all those in Japan that have been immediately impacted by this tragedy. With the Play for Japan USA project, benefit concerts will be held in the San Francisco Bay Area with all proceeds donated to the American Red Cross and other organizations contributing to the relief effort, to be distributed directly to the affected areas in Japan.

As an opening event, a benefit concert with virtuoso Anne Akiko Meyers, one of the world’s premiere concert violinists, will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Woodside High School Performing Arts Center. Anne Akiko Meyers is celebrated as one of the world’s premiere concert violinists. Described as a ‘trailblazing violinist’ who is constantly ‘charting her own course’, Meyers has been the featured soloist with the world’s leading orchestras including the Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, London’s Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony, Orchestre de Paris, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. An incredibly diverse artist, she has performed and collaborated with Michael Bolton, Chris Botti, Il Divo, Wynton Marsalis, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
