Exploring Lords of the Samurai

Thursday, July 9, 2009

This event is sold out. Learn about samurai culture and code of conduct (bushido) while enjoying an evening out at the Asian Art Museum. Melissa Rinne, Assistant Curator of Japanese Art, will present an exclusive curatorial walkthrough of the Asian Art Museum’s summer blockbuster exhibition, Lords of the Samurai.

The exhibition features more than 160 works from the Hosokawa family collection. Ms. Rinne will discuss representative items from the show such as suits of armor, armaments, calligraphy, paintings, teaware, lacquerware, masks, and musical instruments. Following the talk, guests are invited to a wine and cheese reception in the Museum’s elegant Fisher Room.
