Help Us Plant a Cherry Tree in Japantown!

We reached our goal! Thank you so much to all who donated. Due to your incredible generosity, the Japan Society raised enough funds to purchase a cherry tree in the Society’s name through the Sakura 150 Project. We are truly grateful for your support in our effort to beautify Japantown and our community.

The Sakura 150 Project was created to plant 150 flowering cherry trees in the heart of San Francisco’s Japantown community to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first official vessel from Japan, the Kanrin Maru, in San Francisco in 1860. For more information on the Sakura 150 Project, please e-mail sakura150project@gmail.com.

Again, the Japan Society thanks you very much for your contribution. Donations to the Japan Society are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. For those who donated, we will provide you with a donation receipt for federal income tax purposes; please retain this receipt as proof of your gift.
